On Tuesday 11th February, we celebrated Safer Internet Day. Safer Internet Day is coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre. The celebration involves over 170 countries worldwide and includes hundreds of organisations who get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. The aim of Safer Internet Day is to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully and critically.
At Milking Bank, promoting responsible and safe use of the internet is always a priority, however we enjoyed exploring this year’s theme which was ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online.’ All pupils took part in an assembly delivered by Mrs Carter and Mrs Richardson, where the book ‘Oscar’s Adventures in an Online World’ was shared. During the assembly, pupils were able to support Oscar to make safe decisions when exploring the online world. The assembly ended with the members of the new Safety Squad sharing their tips for staying safe online. Pupils then participated in a variety of activities in their classrooms.
