Spring Term
Our Spring term starts with a bang as we enjoy performing with a choir of 6,000 children at the annual Young Voices concert. The music then continues as we begin whole class recorder lessons.
Our topic is 'Journeys' and this involves us reading the wordless picture book by Aaron Becker and travelling back in time to Roman times to consider what impact the Romans had on live today. We enjoy the story Escape from Pompeii which links to our geography theme of 'under the surface'.
During this term, we enjoy taking part in a Roman day, designing and making our own pizzas and also enjoy looking at how journeys are depicted in art through a study of Aboriginal art.
We also enjoy visits from The West Midlands Fire Service, our local nursing team and enjoy dressing up and celebrating World Book Day.
Autumn Term
During the Autumn term, we begin with a study of Dr Seuss and we look at a number of his books.
Following this, we travel back in time to the Industrial Revolution and Victorian eras. We read the story Oliver Twist and enjoy learning about our local area and the important role it played during this period.
We visit the Black Country Museum, celebrate Black History Month and enjoy putting our enterprise skills to the test by creating crafts for our Christmas Fayre. We also enjoy taking part in local field work and visiting our local secondary school Ellowes.
