Milking Bank Primary School

To go further than I thought; to run faster than I hoped; to reach higher than I dreamed.

Special Educational Needs and Disability

At Milking Bank, our values and vision 'to go further than I thought; to run faster than I hoped; to reach higher than I dreamed' encompasses everything that we aim to achieve with the children in our care.  We believe that every child, despite their individual needs and abilities, should have the opportunity to aim high and follow their dreams whilst feeling safe, secure and happy at school.

Underpinned by our vision and values, we ensure that we provide a fully inclusive and nurturing environment in which all children can flourish. Our broad and balanced curriculum, together with high quality teaching and strong relationships ensure that every child has every chance every day.

We have two Special Needs Co-ordinators at Milking Bank:

  • Mrs Mullett is SENCO
  • Mrs Nunn is Assistant SENCO

If you need to contact them please do so via the school office on 01384 816695 or via email:

Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision

Ordinarily Available Inclusive Provision refers to the additional resources and graduated support that all mainstream settings should provide for all children and young people through the funding and resources that are already, or ‘ordinarily’, available in the setting.

This is not just for parents/ carers of children on the SEND register, but for anyone who feels their child may have barriers, however small or short-term, and is interested in knowing what strategies and approaches we use in school.

Do you have questions or thoughts such as:

  • "I don’t think the school is doing enough to help my child"
  • "What strategies will be useful for my son’s teacher to use with him"
  • "I think my child has a speech delay, what support is available"
  • "School say they have tried everything to support her, what else can we suggest"

Our school is actively using this document and teachers have had training around it. Please see the full document for more information.

SEN Graduated Response

A brand new video entitled the SEN Graduated Response, has been produced by Dudley Council and the Dudley Parent Carer Forum to walk parent carers and young people through how Dudley identifies children with additional needs and provides them with extra support.  Narrated by children and parents, the video starts with defining what special educational needs means and how children and young people should be supported according to the Department for Education’s Code of Practice.   It highlights the support children and young people can receive within mainstream schools and how this is reviewed. It also talks about the Education, Health and Care Plan process.  We would like to thank all involved at the Dudley Parent Carer Forum in making this video.
