Year 2 had a brilliant day at Thinktank, Birmingham.
We took part in the workshop, Destination Space, where we had a video message from Tim Peake and learnt what life was like on the International Space Station.
We launched a rocket, docked at the International Space Station and tackled an emergency challenge as a team. This workshop not only taught us about the roles of the space crew and the daily life for astronauts on the International Space Station but also linked to our Science work on materials as we got to test out different materials, finding the most suitable for a space suit.
In the afternoon we visited the Planetarium to watch, The Little Star That Could, the story of an average yellow star searching for planets of his own to warm and protect. We learnt about different types of stars and what makes each star special. We were introduced to each planet in our Solar System and loved watching the story unfold all around us.
Year 2 you were absolute stars today – thank you J
