In response to the school closure, please see our new Covid-19 Response page containing details of home learning arrangements plus other resources, support and information relating to the Coronavirus situation as it affects our school.
During our writing sessions we have been focusing on poetry. We have used a range of stimuli (photos, videos, fact pages) to collect vocabulary and used this to create a series of poems centred around African animals. We have used Purple Mash to type up our favourite poems - we have proudly displayed them on our Wonderful Work Walls.
To complete our poetry topic we have participated in the Young Writers Poetry Competition where we have created an acrostic poem using the skills we have learnt. We look forward to finding out if any of our entries are winners!
Today we have created these amazing sketches inspired by our poetry work based on giraffes. We found it a little tricky initially but I’m sure you would agree the final pieces look incredible. Well done Year 2 - your perseverance paid off 👍
This week we have been exploring patterns. We have used our computing skills on Purple Mash to create our own designs and used weaving to create these beautiful patterns that are displayed in our classrooms.
We kicked off this week, and our new topic, with a topic day based around Africa. The children learnt a dance with Miss Aston which they then performed to Mrs Brass and Mrs Richardson. They were both blown away! The children also learnt about African drumming with Mrs Wallace. After watching some very impressive videos they gave it a good go themselves! Finally, the children cooked some ‘South African Crunchies’ with Miss Msyk and Mrs Keasey, which is always a favourite activity. The children, and adults, enjoyed tasting them and they were a big hit with us all! We look forward to learning more about Africa over the Spring term.
